Where to start

The one-week AI readiness diagnostic.

One week, up to a day of your team's time. You leave with a baseline, a clear picture of where the gains are, and a costed plan.

The AI readiness diagnostic is a one-week review that maps how work moves through a growing business and shows where AI and automation would pay back first. It is for directors and operations, finance and IT leads who want a measured answer before they commit to a tool, a project or a licence.

Why start with a diagnostic?

Most AI projects start with a tool and look for somewhere to use it. The diagnostic does the opposite. It starts with the work: where the hours go, where data is typed twice, where approvals wait and where reports are built by hand. Then it asks which of those would change most for the least effort, and how you would know.

Because the baseline is taken before anything changes, every piece of work that follows can be measured against it. That is how the gain becomes a number, not a claim.

What happens during the week?

  1. Map your systems. Every system and spreadsheet that holds your data, what each is the source of truth for, and how they connect today.
  2. Map how work moves. The workflows that cross those systems, step by step: where data is re-keyed, where work waits and where it goes round again. This is where most of your team's day is spent.
  3. Find where time is lost. The steps that leak time, money and effort, and the ones worth fixing first.
  4. Agree the measures and take the baseline. Hours per task, cost per transaction, time from event to report, active use by team: whichever measures matter to you, recorded before anything changes.
  5. Readout and costed plan. What we found, what we would do first, what it would cost and what it should return, in a form you can take to the board.

What do you leave with?

  • A map of your systems and workflows, including where the data really lives.
  • A baseline, taken on the measures we agree with you.
  • A prioritised list of the fixes worth most, with the stage of our approach each belongs to.
  • A costed plan you can act on with your own team, your existing IT provider or with us.

How much of your time does it take?

Up to a day across the week, mostly in short conversations with the people who do the work. One technical lead from Conosco owns the week and brings in specialists as needed.

What does it cost?

It is a fixed fee, agreed before we start. There is no obligation to go ahead with the plan afterwards.

Who is it for?

Growing businesses whose teams lose time to re-keying between systems, chasing approvals, reconciling spreadsheets and building reports by hand. If you already know the problem is one process or one department, the diagnostic can be scoped to that alone.

What happens next?

The plan maps each fix to one of the four stages of our approach: Foundations if your data and permissions need securing first, Adoption if the right tools are not yet in people's hands, Efficiency for the re-keying and manual reporting, and Build where no off-the-shelf tool fits. If you are about to switch on a particular AI tool, the AI security readiness assessment is the narrower, security-first starting point.

Questions

What people ask about the diagnostic.

What is an AI readiness diagnostic?

A one-week review of how work moves through your business: which systems hold your data, how information passes between them, where time is lost to re-keying, chasing and manual reporting, and which fixes are worth most. It ends with a baseline, a prioritised list and a costed plan.

How much of our time does it take?

Up to a day of your team's time across the week, mostly in short conversations with the people who do the work.

What does it cost?

It is a fixed fee, agreed before we start.

Do we have to go ahead with the plan afterwards?

No. The plan is yours. You can act on it with your own team, with your existing IT provider, or with us, in whatever order suits you.

Is this the same as an AI security readiness assessment?

No. The AI security readiness assessment checks whether your systems and data are safe to switch AI tools on. The diagnostic is broader: it looks at where time goes across the whole business and which AI or automation would pay back first. You can do both: a business about to switch on a new AI tool will often want the security check first.

What if we already know where the problem is?

Then we start there. Tell us the process or department, and we scope the week to it, with the baseline taken on that process alone.

Tell us where the time goes.

One conversation. We will tell you where we see the biggest gain, and how we would measure it.
